Caithness Stud & Riding School History

History

How Caithness came about 50 yrs. ago. It came about from my mother, Patricia Grigg, who is originally from England. She came to NZ to marry and sheep and beef farmer. Mum Started to breed Arabian Horses in NZ shortly after getting married   Mum named the stud after a place in Scotland she loved called “Caithness” it  is a small town in the highlands.

So “The Arabian Horse Stud” was known as “Caithness Stud”

About 30 years ago I started to work at the stud and over the following years  I turned Caithness Stud into Caithness Stud NZ Ltd.  Then we went towards more sport horses until we got  Maestro about 24 yrs. ago. Then started breeding Swedish warm blood’s.  As we continue today to improve our bloodlines. Over the last few years the riding school started alongside the Breeding Stud.
